UFC 242: Tony Ferguson demands Khabib Nurmagomedov fight him in December – or vacate title
- Former interim champion wants his title shot at UFC 245 in Las Vegas – ‘he’s got nowhere else to run’
- ‘You gotta just accept the fight, or tell everybody you’re scared’
Tony Ferguson wants to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 245 in Las Vegas on December 14 – and said the lightweight champion needs to “defend or vacate”.
After beating Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi, Khabib admitted Ferguson is next in line for a title shot. But he was hesitant to start talking about when the fight would take place because he wanted to relax “for a couple days” first.
“He didn’t even sound like he wanted to take the fight. I mean, seriously. You get done fighting, you need to act interested, this is what everybody wants to hear and everybody wants the fight,” Ferguson told Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.
On Saturday night, the Russian said his next opponent would be “a big steak and a hamburger with double cheese”.
“If I was in charge we’d be doing this in December. I’m calling it right now, we called it already. We’re gonna do this in December,” Ferguson said.
