UFC: Tony Ferguson deserves Khabib fight, says Cerrone – ‘give the dude his dues’
- Conor McGregor skipping the line for a title shot would be ‘tough for Tony to swallow’
- Donald Cerrone doubts ‘The Notorious’ will even come back to the UFC
Donald Cerrone has said Tony Ferguson deserves the next shot at Khabib Nurmagomedov, and that Conor McGregor skipping the line would be “tough to swallow”.
Ferguson beat “Cowboy” in June to make it 12 wins in a row in the UFC, solidifying his position as the No 1-ranked lightweight contender.
Dana White said a McGregor rematch “makes sense” for Khabib if Ferguson does not want to take the fight, however.
“Wow, that would be tough for Tony to swallow. No, he deserves it for sure,” Cerrone told reporters at a media scrum for UFC Vancouver, where he fights Justin Gaethje on Saturday night. “Hell yeah, man. Give the dude his dues.”
Cerrone was talked about as a possible opponent for McGregor in the summer, before the Irishman injured his hand in training.
