UFC commentator Joe Rogan has added his voice to the chorus of MMA fans calling for Conor McGregor to take on Justin Gaethje.

“The Highlight” positioned himself as the perfect comeback fight for the Irishman after knocking out Donald Cerrone in the first round at UFC Vancouver last weekend.

McGregor has been out of the octagon since a submission defeat by undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov last October. He’s angling for a rematch but the popular opinion is he should earn it by beating No 4-ranked Gaethje.

“Oh please, please gods of fight, let that happen,” Rogan said on his YouTube podcast, the JRE MMA Show.

McGregor dropped a cryptic tweet reading simply “December 14th, Dublin” last week, with some reports he could compete in his second boxing match against Irish compatriot Luke Keeler.
