Conor McGregor may be talking up a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov, but his coach thinks he should fight Frankie Edgar when he returns to the UFC.
The Irishman, who has been out of the Octagon since his defeat by the Russian in October 2018, has been linked to potential fights with Justin Gaethje and former interim light champion Dustin Poirier.
UFC president Dana White has said he’s lining up McGregor to return in early 2020, but John Kavanagh wants his man to make his comeback at the end of this year, ideally against Edgar.

“I think it was in the works when Conor was kind of going on that featherweight tear. He’s an ex-champion, great fighter,” Kavanagh told The Mac Life.
“Yeah, if it was me, I would love to see the Frankie Edgar fight this year if possible. And then go on another run in 2020.”
