One Championship: Demetrious Johnson just wants to ‘enjoy a little life’ as Century caps tiring 2019
- ‘Mighty Mouse’ fights Danny Kingad in flyweight grand prix final on Sunday – his third fight this year
- ‘I’m excited for the tournament to be over. Spend some time with the kids,’ he says

Returning to the city where his One Championship began, Demetrious Johnson reflected on what has been a gruelling year.
The 33-year-old “Mighty Mouse” has fought three times in 2019 – something he has not done since beating John Dodson, John Moraga and Joseph Benavidez in the UFC in 2012.
The former UFC flyweight champion and pound-for-pound legend has moved through One’s flyweight grand prix with relative ease. He beat Yuya Wakumatsu in Tokyo on his debut at the end of March and Tatsumitsu Wada in Manila in August.
“Yeah, I’m excited for the tournament to be over,” he told the Post in Shinigawa’s Grand Prince Hotel, at the end of a tiring media day. “Spend some time with the kids and pick them up from school. Drop them off at school. Just enjoy a little bit of life.”
Having effectively been in training camp since the summer, he was back in the Japanese capital even earlier than usual on promotional duty in his role as One Esports chief brand ambassador for the One Martial Arts Fan Fest.
