UFC: Dustin Poirier apologises to Nate Diaz and reveals why their fight fell through
- ‘The Diamond’ clears up mystery surrounding cancellation of UFC 230 bout last November at Madison Square Garden
- Poirier admits he also ‘jumped the gun’ on bashing Diaz for drugs test failure
Dustin Poirier has seemingly cleared up the mystery surrounding his cancelled fight with Nate Diaz.
The two were set to face each other in the UFC 230 co-main event slot last November at Madison Square Garden. The bout was scrapped with an injury for Poirier given as the official reason.
But “The Diamond” has disputed those events after being asked by fans on Twitter about the issue, saying he was revealing “the whole truth”.
“He [Nate] wanted it he just couldn't come to terms with UFC,” Poirier tweeted in response to one question. “They offered us the main event at MSG but he would only agree if it was on his terms. I was tired of playing games with the guy and that's when I decided to address an injury I had been dealing with. Now you all know.”
One fan suggested UFC president Dana White was never going to give Diaz the main event slot at the Garden.
