Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has promised a surprise announcement at Friday’s UFC 244 press conference, after confirming he will present the “BMF” belt to the winner of Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz on November 2.
The WWE and Hollywood superstar – who is a long-time fan of combat sports – told UFC president Dana White via an Instagram Live Q&A that he had big news for the MMA community.
The press conference is expected to cover the BMF headliner at Madison Square Garden and look ahead to UFC 245, the company’s final pay-per-view card of the year scheduled for December 14 in Las Vegas.
“I’ve got a little announcement at the press conference … and it’s something that I wanted to tell the UFC fans and the MMA community first,” said Johnson, who is represented by the Endeavour management agency, which acquired the UFC in 2016.
Johnson will assume White’s role of wrapping the belt around the winner’s waist after he struck up a conversation on Twitter with fellow Floridian Masvidal in September. Johnson was a former collegiate American footballer in Miami.
