UFC: Conor McGregor’s Moscow hotel put on security lockdown as angry mob tries to confront him
- Ritz-Carlton calls for police backup after around 100 men surround UFC star’s hotel in the Russian capital
- Former lightweight champion also dodges a water bottle thrown at him by a man during a media event

Conor McGregor has upset a lot of people over the years, none more so than the people of Dagestan, whom the Irishman seems to have a gripe with since fighting and losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov last year at UFC 229.
In what turned out to be a crazy week for the 31-year-old MMA superstar, things almost got out of hand when the Moscow hotel he was staying in – the Ritz-Carlton – was forced into a security lockdown this week.
This happened when around 100 men turned up at his hotel to “teach him a lesson”, presumably not happy with comments he made about Dagestan.
According to Sputnik News, McGregor had offended the Russian ethnic group during his press conference in Moscow to announce his UFC return on January 18.
The men surrounded his hotel, trying to confront “The Notorious” – presumably to prove that they were not “running away” from him.
Hotel security had to spring into action and riot police reportedly had to be on high alert, and they were on standby near the hotel just in case things turned ugly. Fortunately, things didn’t escalate.
