UFC heavyweight contender Walt Harris has withdrawn from his bout with Alistair Overeem, scheduled for December 7 in Washington, amid the disappearance of his daughter, Aniah Blanchard.

In a statement to the Post, Overeem offered his thoughts and support to his would-be opponent during this difficult time.

“Our thoughts go out to Walt and his family,” Overeem said. “As a father I can only imagine how devastating this must be. I would have made the same decision. Family is the most important thing in life.”

Blanchard, 19, went missing last Wednesday, October 23, near Auburn, Alabama in the US.

The Auburn Police Division suspects foul play was involved in her disappearance, and that she is likely to have been harmed.
