Nate Diaz truly is a man of the people. The Stockton, California fighter has an army of diehard supporters. He will surely have only enhanced his reputation among them after paying rent for a fan who lost big betting on him to beat Jorge Masvidal for the “BMF” title at UFC 244. Diaz lost via medical stoppage after the cageside doctor ruled he could not continue for the fourth round at Madison Square Garden, because of two nasty cuts around his right eye. “Nate I lost my rent money betting on you now I’m sleeping in my car till [sic] I can come up with my half,” a fan replied to one of Diaz’s Instagram posts. “Don’t trip I got ur b**** a**,” Diaz responded, in true Diaz style. The fan – who goes by the username @unknownkillers213 on Instagram – posted a picture of a direct message conversation with Diaz. UFC: The Rock responds to Nate Diaz jibe “Nate I love you are you serious?” he wrote, also posting an image of his bet slip, with the money figure blurred out. “Come beat up my college roommates at USC [University of Southern California] I’m a broke college kid trying to make it.” “Say less I got your b**** a**,” Diaz replied again, suggesting he transfer the money through online payment system PayPal. The fan later posted an update. “For everyone asking me, yes Nate actually helped me out. Nate is the true OG BMF,” the fan wrote in an Instagram post. “He sent me more money than what I lost on my bet … Nate is a really cool guy. “When I made that post I didn’t think twice about it, I didn’t even think he would see it and I even let him know I wasn’t really sleeping in my car it was more of a joke. “But it was awesome the way he responded and the fact that he refunded me and gave me some extra cash just goes to show he is a man of the people!”
