UFC: Jorge Masvidal ‘not impressed at all’ by Kamaru Usman – ‘he just stalls’

  • ‘Gamebred’ says UFC welterweight champion ‘is a great kicker for the YMCA, or the public club’
  • ‘That guy would never land a kick on me,’ adds ‘BMF’ champion

Jorge Masvidal has fanned the flames for a potential future showdown with Kamaru Usman, saying he is “not impressed” by the UFC welterweight champion.

Usman fights former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington in the main event of UFC 245 on December 14 in Las Vegas.

“BMF” champion Masvidal is the logical next contender – and he’s not sweating at the thought of fighting “The Nigerian Nightmare” if Usman retains his belt.

“Not at all impressed [by Usman],” Masvidal told Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports. “There’s some things he does well, which is just stall. He just gets a leg, takes guys down. I’m a fan of grappling but I like to see offensive grappling.”

The 32-year-old Usman (15-1) dominated former champion Tyron Woodley (19-4-1) at UFC 235 in March in what many saw as an upset victory.

Woodley landed just 60 total strikes compared to a staggering 336 by Usman, who is on a 10-fight win streak in the UFC.

UFC’s Masvidal says Donald Trump invited him to White House

“He can’t kick nothing, man. It’s like me saying there’s an MMA guy which is a great boxer technique-wise. Nah, he’s a great boxer for MMA.

“Maybe Usman is a great kicker for the YMCA, the public club. He’s not kicking me. That guy would never land a kick on me.”
