Volkan Oezdemir saw off the challenge of Aleksandar Rakic with a razor-thin split decision in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night Busan. All three judges scored the fight 29-28, two for “No Time”, who improved his record to 17-4 and made it back-to-back victories, as the former title contender continues to rebuild his momentum. “I’ve been on the wrong side of a decision already, against Dominick Reyes,” Oezdemir said during his post-fight interview in the Octagon. “And now it really is a good thing. “Once Reyes comes back, I’m gonna be waiting for him.” Reyes is of course fighting light heavyweight champion Jon Jones next in Houston in February at UFC 247. “In 2020, there’s a lot of stuff going on, you know I want my rematch with Dom Reyes. Everybody knows the decision is b*******, in the meantime I want to fight Anthony Smith,” Oezdemir said. UFC: ‘Korean Zombie’ obliterates Edgar with Busan TKO Rakic flew out of the gates with some big strikes and a flying knee and tried for a headlock. But Oezdemir weathered the early storm and came back into it. It was three rounds of heavy hitting with Oezdemir able to stuff Rakic’s takedowns and tire out the Austrian. “I know he has a really wide stance, he’s a tall guy, so I know the leg kicks are always here,” Oezdemir added.
