UFC: Donald Cerrone on ‘taking a dive’ against Conor McGregor – ‘I’d rather fight for free’
- ‘Cowboy’ says he’s ‘not bowing down’ against the Irishman at UFC 246
- ‘There wouldn’t be enough money in the world for someone to pay me to take a dive’
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has angrily hit out at claims he’s “taking a dive” against Conor McGregor.
The two will meet on January 18 in the main event of UFC 246, which reportedly sold out in five minutes when tickets for the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas went on sale earlier week. McGregor also commanded a US$10 million-plus gate for the fourth time in his career.
It will certainly be a lucrative payday for “The Notorious”, but Cerrone is likely to earn the biggest pay cheque of his career too. Just don’t think that’s his only motivation.
“Hell no, I’m not bowing down,” Cerrone told MMAFighting.com. “There’s a bunch of s*** going around, people keep telling me, ‘I heard you’re getting paid to take a dive’.
“There wouldn’t be enough money in the world for someone to pay me to take a dive. I could never look myself in the mirror if somebody paid me to take a dive. S***, never happen.
