UFC: Conor McGregor says Justin Gaethje is on his list – ‘maybe I’ll face him next’
- Irishman says Gaethje ‘has it coming to him’ as war of words heats up
- ‘I laugh at how Justin is behaving, he’s been taking it very to heart’
Conor McGregor vs Justin Gaethje is a dream match-up at lightweight for many, and a logical one. And it could be a step closer.
“He’s on the list. He is on the list,” McGregor told The Mac Life. “Maybe I will face him next. Maybe I’ll face him next, you know?”
Gaethje has criticised the UFC and president Dana White for saying former featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor is next in line for a title shot at 155 pounds.
The Irishman is returning against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone on January 18, but the bout is at welterweight, which could help facilitate a quick turnaround to fight again at lightweight.
White said the UFC has offered Gaethje “lots of fights and he’s turned them down”, but Gaethje feels McGregor should not be skipping the line for a shot at Khabib Nurmagomedov, and has voiced his displeasure.
