Conor McGregor says ‘weird’ Jorge Masvidal ‘blew it’ with UFC 246 outfit – ‘my grandma wears that’

  • McGregor likens Masvidal’s Versace robe to ones ‘old ladies in Ireland wear watching the soap operas’
  • ‘If you ask me that’s ridiculous. I don’t know what’s going on there. Why?’

Who Conor McGregor was going to call out next was on most people’s minds just as much as whether he would win his fight against Donald Cerrone.

After steamrollering “Cowboy” in 40 seconds, the Irishman duly called out “fools” Kamaru Usman – the welterweight champion – and Jorge Masvidal, the No 1 contender to the 170-pounds title.

Both were sitting cageside for the fight, Masvidal wearing a Versace robe similar to the outfit McGregor wore at the UFC Performance Institute workouts ahead of his boxing match against Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

And “The Notorious” found it a little odd.

“Why? Why?” he said at the UFC 246 post-event press conference at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. “I dunno either. Just whatever. F•••••• hell, I dunno.

“I don’t know what that was about. Talk about blowing it,” he added. “If you ask me that’s ridiculous. I don’t know what was going on there. A bleeding housecoat. The old ladies in Ireland they wear housecoats watching the soap operas. My nana wears that.”

McGregor said a mega-money fight with “BMF” champion Masvidal still interests him, despite the choice of wardrobe.

“All the best fights interest me, yeah. That’s not a great belt but I’ll still take it, add it to the list. Wasn’t a good night for Jorge if you ask me. But all the best to him, God loves a trier.

“I don’t know what the f*** is going on tonight. It was a bit of a weird night, wasn’t it? The two boys [Masvidal and Usman] doing mad stuff. So I dunno. Whatever, all the best to them.”
