Look, I’m not saying there is much chance Dominick Reyes does anything but get sufficiently pummelled by Jon Jones at UFC 247 on February 8 in Houston, Texas. But the beauty of mixed martial arts is upsets are commonplace and predicting if and when they happen is like waiting for the next black swan to dive bomb into the lake.

Reyes, 30, already took a verbal beating from Jones during the pre-fight press conference in December, showing when it comes to verbal sparring, the relative unknown, whose monosyllabic comebacks left much to the imagination, would best continue to let his fists do the talking.

Jones, 32, who is not only a beautiful tactician but quite funny, summed it up perfectly when a reporter asked Reyes if there was a spy in his camp trying to glean information on the Southern California native:

“You’re not that important,” replied Jones.

You have to feel a little for Reyes, as Jones spent a fair portion of their press conference answering questions about other fights he could possibly take on after he hypothetically beats Reyes.
