Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal were involved in a heated verbal confrontation during some UFC-led Super Bowl promotional junkets in Miami on Thursday.

Video footage of Nigerian-American champion Usman (professional MMA record 16-1) and Cuban-American Masvidal (35-13) showed the pair being separated by teammates and attending staff as threats of physical exchanges continue to elevate.

“Do something, I’m standing right here. Do something. You’re making hand gestures … do something about it,” said Usman, Africa’s first champion.

Masvidal, who won the promotion’s only BMF belt, responded with a smile: “Nah, I’m gonna kill you. I’m gonna [expletive] your a** up. You’re talking all that [expletive].”

Rumours of a potential match-up between both fighters have resurfaced after Masvidal’s open invitation to fight Irish UFC star Conor McGregor went unanswered. Usman, who defended his title against contender Colby Covington in December last year, is recovering from a ligament injury in his hand.
