UFC president Dana White has finally shed light on Conor McGregor’s future after the Irishman’s successful combat sports comeback last month.

White confirmed the 31-year-old McGregor (professional MMA record 22-4) will likely fight the winner of lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s (28-0) title defence against contender Tony Ferguson (25-3) at UFC 249 on April 19.

“So Khabib and Tony will fight in Brooklyn and Conor will probably fight the winner of that fight,” White said on The Will Cain Show on Sunday.

“Conor is talking now about not wanting to wait that long. I don’t know what else makes sense, but who knows with that kid.

“The reason everybody loves him so much is who he’ll say he’ll fight next, in some other weight class or whatever it might be. He keeps it fun,” said White, who also denied rumours of a match-up between McGregor and welterweights Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal.

McGregor, who had not fought since losing to Khabib via fourth-round rear-naked choke in 2018, spent much of last year dealing with out-of-cage controversies. He has since reiterated his intentions to fight multiple times upon his return “season”.
