Jon Jones has instructed fans to tell UFC president Dana White to “give me a call” after going on Twitter tirade addressing the backlash to his controversial unanimous decision win against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 last weekend.
The light heavyweight champion (professional MMA record 26-1) defended the 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46 scorecards from the Texas-commissioned judges – a result that White and commentator Joe Rogan called “insane”. Several pundits believed Reyes won the three of five rounds and thus deserved to have his arm raised.

“Someone tell uncle Dana to give me a call,” Jones tweeted in response to a fan urging a Reyes (12-1) rematch to “set the record straight”.

Due to the judging controversy and the closeness of the fight, White, Jones and Reyes had all said in the post-fight press conference that they would be open to a rematch. Reyes also told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani that Jones knows “deep down in his heart” that he lost the fight. Jones wanted to make ensure that such statements is not the same as a concession.

“This will probably be one of the only times I defend myself about the fight. Just glad it has everyone talking,” he tweeted.

“I don’t think people realise how many ways this has been a blessing for me. Humbling, record-breaking, financially, a new rival, got to bring out the dog. UFC 247 is what it’s all about”.
