UFC: Emil Meek was ‘chased with a blade’ by Diego Sanchez’s coach in ‘crazy’ training session

  • ‘Valhalla’ urges Sanchez to stop using Joshua Fabia’s unconventional methods – ‘I don’t think he’ll do well with this stuff’
  • ‘At one point, he was running after us in a locked cage with a real, sharp blade, to make us move’

For a short period in late 2019, it looked like Emil Meek and Diego Sanchez would end up colliding in the UFC’s Octagon. When matchmakers opted for other fights for the two men, however, the pair decided to work out together.

This meant Meek was able to do some training under Sanchez’s infamous coach, Joshua Fabia.

Fabia, who operates a “school of self-awareness”, has been the subject of much controversy over the last few months.

He’s coached Sanchez for his last two fights – a decision loss to Michael Chiesa and disqualification win over Michel Pereira last weekend – despite a complete lack of legitimate martial arts experience.

To say fight fans are sceptical of his credentials would be an understatement.

Meek, who experienced Fabia’s unconventional methods first-hand – and assures he approached the training session with an open mind – is similarly sceptical.
