UFC: Khabib’s manager worries ‘dumb’ Tony Ferguson could injure himself with bizarre training methods
- Ali Abdelaziz tells Ferguson to ‘get some real coaches’ after ‘El Cucuy’ posts video of unconventional workout
- ‘He needs to stay off kicking poles and training with banana peels,’ says Abdelaziz
Some of Tony Ferguson’s training methods are unconventional, to say the least.
MMA fans got a kick out of seeing “El Cucuy” post a video this week of himself throwing a large plyo box around while dressed in jeans, a T-shirt and boots. Ferguson is clearly staying prepared, with UFC president Dana White insisting his UFC 249 fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov will happen “whatever it takes”, despite the escalating coronavirus crisis.
It’s nothing out of the ordinary for Ferguson, who, in the build-up to his fight with the lightweight champion, has shared other training clips of himself throwing a baseball around, sliding on a heavy bag and dancing in a compression therapy suit.
“Listen, this fight is gonna happen – the only thing I’m worried about is this dumb [expletive] hurting himself f****** around,” Ali Abdelaziz, Khabib’s manager, told TMZ Sports.
“He’s dumb. He runs his mouth about me, I left him alone at the press conference but he’s not gonna get no break from me. This [expletive] needs to stay off kicking poles and slipping and training with banana peels.
