It looks like Anthony Smith earned some respect off UFC boss Dana White after handling a violent home intruder last month.

Former light heavyweight contender Smith (32-14) returns to the Octagon against Glover Teixeira (30-7) in the main event of the UFC’s May 13 Fight Night card in Jacksonville, Florida.

He may not have fought officially in the cage since an impressive win against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Fight Night 153 in June 2019. But he was forced to subdue a former stand-out high school wrestler who broke into his Nebraska home around 4am on April 5.

“He’s coming off a win over Alexander Gustafsson, and he’s coming off a win over the dude that broke into his house,” White said, laughing, in an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.

“He’s had a very interesting time off. He’s taking on Glover Teixeira. Great fight, great main event. Two tough, durable guys. Yeah, I’m looking forward to that one.”
