UFC: Justin Gaethje blasts ‘greedy’ Conor McGregor – ‘his only ploy is he’s Mr Red Panty Night’
- New interim lightweight champ thinks McGregor is losing respect among his fellow fighters
- ‘He doesn’t hold the cards right now … not everyone is greedy like him,’ says Gaethje

No matter how much Conor McGregor tries, Justin Gaethje just isn’t interested.
The former featherweight and lightweight champion “guaranteed” he will be Gaethje’s next fight in a series of tweets aimed at putting the 155-pound division on notice after UFC 249.
“Even two months ago, who would’ve thought. Conor wasn’t begging but he’s coming out pretty thirsty for some attention and to fight me. There’s some 550 odd people on the roster, and 550 of them would trade spots with me right now,” new interim lightweight champ Gaethje told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.
That spot sees “The Highlight” set for a huge fight against lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov – whom McGregor is desperate to rematch – in September, after his stunning fifth-round TKO of Tony Ferguson last weekend.
“I put myself in a great position. I asked for a say in my destiny, went out there and showed up. Now I’m in a spot where I can pick between Khabib and Conor,” Gaethje said.
