Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised to provide Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father and coach with the “best treatment available”, according to the UFC lightweight champion’s manager.
Ali Abdelaziz confirmed to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto that Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, 57, has been put into a medically induced coma at a hospital in Moscow after becoming infected with Covid-19.
“Khabib has been in contact with Vladimir Putin over the last several days, and he has promised Khabib’s father will receive the best medical treatment available,” Abdelaziz told ESPN.
“Khabib’s No 1 message to people around the world right now is to stay at home, to prevent the spread of coronavirus.”

Putin is close with the Nurmagomedov family, having invited Khabib and Abdulmanap to meet after the champ’s two successful title defences against Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.
