Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley said he feels a “weird peace for somebody who just got their a** whooped” after a surprise unanimous decision loss to contender Gilbert Burns on UFC Fight Night on Saturday.
Woodley (19-5-1), who is on a two-fight losing streak having previously never lost back-to-back fights, took to Instagram Live for a humble message to fans.
“You can’t just get on the camera when you win, you gotta get on the camera when you lose, too. I felt good out, I have no excuses, man,” said the 38-year-old Woodley, nicknamed “The Chosen One”.

“I trained hard, I was in great shape, I felt like I did everything right. Everything felt good, from the walkout to the stretch, to every single thing about the fight,” he added.
Woodley – who defended his welterweight belt against Stephen Thompson, Demian Maia and Darren Till – lost to current champion Kamaru Usman (16-1) in March 2019.

The loss to Burns (19-3) puts Woodley out of the number one contender spot, meaning he will very unlikely fight for the title next. “Durinho” Burns, meanwhile, used his leapfrog win to call out teammate Usman.
