We already knew Amanda Nunes would be taking the rest of 2020 off, as she gets set to become a mother with fiancée Nina Ansaroff. But the UFC featherweight and bantamweight champion could be taking a permanent step away from the Octagon.

Nunes retained her featherweight crown against Felicia Spencer in the main event of UFC 250 this month, taking another slice of history as the first UFC fighter to defend belts in two divisions while still holding both.

“Ah, I don’t know. I’ve achieved everything I wanted,” the 32-year-old told Brazilian television show, Esporte Espatacular, as translated by MMA Fighting. “I’m well. I can go on with my life, maybe [take] a new step, maybe find new talents, help some girls there … maybe be a coach, too.”

“I’m in a moment that I can retire, you know, and I’m in a moment that I can fight. I’m fine. There’s nothing else to be done right now in the division.”

Nunes (20-4) has cleaned out both divisions, with the Canadian Spencer (8-2) the latest to fall in an 11-fight win streak for the Brazilian. She has now won eight consecutive title fights, a run which includes first-round finishes of every other women’s bantamweight champ in history.
