Dustin Poirier has a reputation for giving back.
“The Diamond” helped make positive headlines last September when Khabib Nurmagomedov raised US$100,000 for Poirier’s Good Fight Foundation, after auctioning off his UFC 242 opponent’s T-shirt. UFC president Dana White matched the sum, with the outlay helping the foundation join forces with the non-profit Fight for the Forgotten to help build water wells for the Batwa pygmy children of Uganda.
The former interim lightweight champion’s foundation also provided 1,000 meals to medical staff in his home state Louisiana amid the coronavirus pandemic in April.

Now Poirier (22-6) is helping out fans and business in his hometown of Lafayette after revealing he will foot the bill for everyone watching UFC on ESPN 12, which he headlines on Saturday against Dan Hooker (20-8), at the local Broaddus Burger restaurant.
“Yeah, we were thinking about putting something together this last minute, we didn’t have a whole lot of time to prep with the foundation, and meet with the board and get things moving,” Poirier told reporters at the UFC’s virtual media day ahead of his fight with Hooker.
