Mike Perry showed he is still a threat despite not having coaches in his corner after a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) win over Mickey Gall at UFC Vegas 4 on Saturday. “Platinum” Perry (14-6), who shocked the MMA world after announcing new girlfriend Latory Gonzalez would be the only person to corner him at the Apex Arena in Las Vegas, weathered Gall’s (6-3) slick jabs and body kicks to seal a dominant stand-up performance. “It’s all up to me every time we get in there,” Perry said of his cornerwoman choice. “You’re all gonna take the credit from me, anyways ... 100 per cent of y’all was talking online – you were picking him – and I won. Now don’t say I fought someone with no experience.” The 28-year-old American breaks a two-fight losing streak having fallen to Geoff Neal via first-round TKO in December 2019 and Vicente Luque via split decision four months earlier. “I put the training camp together and I did what I needed to get the win. Mickey did a lot of training and respect to his team for the game plan they put together. I heard some technical advice and nicknames for moves. I figured them all out in the third round,” said Perry, who successfully defended five takedowns and scored a suplex of his own in the first round. “I trained for this like a professional. I made weight like a professional. That’s such an athletic thing to make that happen ... I looked better than 99 per cent of UFC fighters – only Francis Ngannou got a better physique than me.” "Hey, you looking good babe!" "You're doing great!" I’m gonna find a training camp and some teammates. I’m looking to move to South Florida. I’ll take some knowledge from you guys and we’ll see. “I prefer a friendship basis over people who be trying to coach and run their mouth from the sidelines. They got nothing to say once we in there,” added Perry, who went on to explain he had difficulties in paying his taxes due to irregular fight paydays.
