UFC: ‘maniac’ Dustin Poirier’s corner footage after Dan Hooker’s win goes viral – ‘having a blast’

  • Lightweight contender Poirier enjoys a moment with cornerman in the cage despite requiring eye treatment
  • Opponent Hooker also addresses fans after receiving stitches above his eye – ‘just a small setback’
Dustin Poirier’s fight of the year contender win over Dan Hooker at UFC Vegas 4 last weekend clearly left a mark in the MMA world after a clip of the American lightweight’s refreshing interaction with his cornerman went viral on social media.
“The Diamond” Poirier (26-6) captured his first win since losing to champion Khabib Nurmagomedov via third-round rear-naked choke in September 2019.

“We having fun?” coach Dyah Davis asked the 31-year-old in between the third and fourth rounds of the even headliner.

“Having a blast, yeah,” Poirier replied while catching his breath and receiving treatment from an Enswell eye iron by the cutman.

“You’re looking good, all I need you to do is stay focused,” replied the cornerman before Poirier went on to win the remaining two rounds.

Poirier was immediately taken to hospital after the fight, where he took a video for his fans saying “that was a fun one”.

In separate tweets, Poirier also thanked Khabib for his congratulatory message post-win, while also hilariously addressing ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, who attempted to fuel a fight with “Tony Ferguson next”.

“Damn!! Let me rest bruh!!!” said Poirier, whose eighteenth UFC win put him in the top 10 promotion winners of all time.

New Zealand opponent Hooker (20-9) also addressed his fans in a video via social media.

“Hey everyone, just back at the hotel with the lads, having a feed. Got checked out at the hospital, everything’s all good, just a couple of stitches on the eye. But hey, that’s the game we play, no worries, just a small setback and I’ll be back,” said “The Hangman” Hooker, whose face was clearly swollen from the fight.
