The “Korean Zombie” Jung Chan-sung has added his name to the growing list of people who think Alexander Volkanovski didn’t deserve the judges’ decision at UFC 251 against Max Holloway on Fight Island. Volkanovski (22-1) won a controversial decision over Holloway (21-6) in defending his 145-pound belt over the weekend in Abu Dhabi. UFC president Dana White said he was not in agreement with the decision and Jung has now called out Volkanovski. “To be honest, it is shameful that Volkanovski is a champion of my weight class,” wrote Jung on his Instagram. “Give him to me then you don’t need to worry about the judges’ decision.” White said in a post-fight press conference that he was not pleased either. “We’ve got some bad judging,” White said. “I dunno, did anyone here score it for Volkanovski? Nobody in the media? I don’t know. We’ll have to figure it out.” Two out of the three judges on Yas Island scored the tilt 48-47 for Volkanovski, with the third scoring the same for Holloway. View this post on Instagram I am responding to yesterday’s title match against Volkanovski and Halloway. To be honest, it is shameful that Volkanovski is a champion of my weight class. Give him to me then you don’t need to worry about the judges decision. As you know, I won't let the judges decide the result of my fight. I will finish him at the title match and that is what UFC fans want to watch. @danawhite @ufc @espnmma @mmamania A post shared by 정찬성 (@koreanzombiemma) on Jul 12, 2020 at 8:56am PDT White also hinted the UFC might need to “tighten” up the refereeing and judging on Fight Island after Petr Yan was allowed to repeatedly beat on Jose Aldo in the final round after many thought the fight should have been stopped. Jung’s last two fights in the UFC have been wins. In December, he beat Frankie Edgar with a first round TKO, and in June of last year he beat Renato Moicano, which was also a first round TKO. Volkanovski had previously beat Holloway at UFC 245 in December in a unanimous decision.
