Derrick Lewis solidified his position as a heavyweight challenger with a second-round TKO of Russian veteran Aleksei Oleinik in the UFC Vegas 6 main event.

“The Black Beast” (24-7, one no contest) took ownership of the record for most heavyweight knockouts in the UFC, after hitting Oleinik (59-14-1) with a flying knee out of the gate in the second round, then dropping him with a beautiful right hand and delivering ground and pound until the referee stepped in after only 21 seconds.

It was a classic Lewis post-fight interview as usual, getting caught telling his coach Bob Perez off-camera he needed to relieve himself in the bathroom without realising Paul Felder had started the chat on the ESPN broadcast.

“I gotta take a [expletive] Bob … Oh, hello?” Lewis said into his headset, before getting serious. “It feels good to have the record, especially knowing I’m not where I need to be yet,” the American added of his 11th knockout win in the promotion.

“I’m not gonna take no more fights until I walk around at the 250 [pounds], 245 range. I gotta get down at least 15, 20 pounds. Not gonna take any more fights at 260.”
