UFC: Joanna Jedrzejczyk ‘knows’ Jan Blachowicz will become light heavyweight champ – ‘he’s ready’
- Jedrzejczyk plans to wait at the airport for her countryman’s return home if he wins vacant title at UFC 253
- Former strawweight champ advises Blachowicz to push himself to brink in preparation for Reyes fight – ‘go for it Jan, don’t give up’

Former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk believes her good friend and fellow Pole Jan Blachowicz will soon be the UFC light heavyweight champion.
Blachowicz is set to take on Dominick Reyes for the promotion’s light heavyweight title at UFC 253 on September 27, after the former champ Jon Jones vacated the division’s throne earlier this week.
Jedrzejczyk, who estimates she’s known Blachowicz for 17 or 18 years, believes her countryman has what it takes to defeat Reyes and bring MMA glory to their homeland.
“He does [have the skills to become champion],” Jedrzejczyk told SCMP MMA from her home in Poland this week. “He was supposed to fight for this belt so many times, and I feel like he’s ready. I know he’s ready. He’s been training so hard.
“It’s been a while since he fought last, but I think it’s the time. I wish he was fighting Jon Jones, but the fight with Reyes is going to be a very interesting match-up, a very tough fight for both of them. It’s very, very interesting.”
