ONE Championship: Brandon Vera would ‘love’ to give Aung La N Sang heavyweight title shot

  • Vera says it would be ‘so cool’ to see ‘The Burmese Python’ bid to become a ONE triple champ after N Sang got better of him for light heavyweight belt
  • ‘The Truth’ insists he’s not looking past next title defence vs Bhullar, however – ‘Mr Arjan, I know it’s still you and I’

There might be plenty of fresh blood in the ONE Championship heavyweight ranks, but champ Brandon Vera is open to facing an old foe down the line.

Filipino 42-year-old Vera (15-7, one no contest) fell in his bid to wrest the light heavyweight championship from “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang (26-10) – who is also the promotion’s middleweight champ – last October at ONE: Century Part II in Tokyo.

And should the 35-year-old from Myanmar want to take a crack at becoming a three-division champ, “The Truth” is all for it.

“Aung is the man. If he wanted to come up to heavyweight and have a go I would absolutely love it,” Vera told SCMP MMA. “I think that would be so cool. I enjoyed our time in that Circle together.

“I’m a huge fan of Aung, he says he’s a huge fan of me. We’re basically cut from the same cloth. I would love if he came up to heavyweight, are you kidding me? That would be amazing.”
