ONE Championship: Amir Khan hopes to make terminally-ill father proud – ‘it could be the last time he sees me fight’
- Singapore fighter’s dad has stage four brain cancer and has six months to live – but still plans to be by his son’s side for Reign of Dynasties bout
- ‘Not only for the fight, just each day he’s alive I’m gonna try to make him the proudest dad he can be,’ says Khan

ONE Championship’s return to action in Singapore is bittersweet for Lion City local Amir Khan.
The 25-year-old is up against Rahul Raju (7-4) on Friday’s show at the Singapore Indoor Arena, as the Asian martial arts organisation gets back to hosting international events in its home city.
But Khan (12-7) knows this could be the last time his father sees him fight. The 61-year-old Tajudeen Khan has been diagnosed with stage four brain cancer and doctors gave him three to six months to live.
“Nothing is certain, he might live longer, I try not to think whether it’s the last fight,” Khan told SCMP MMA. “Potentially it could be the last time he could watch me. What’s on my mind is to make each moment count.
“Not only for the fight, just each day he’s alive I’m gonna try to make him the proudest dad he can be. On Friday night I want to secure a good win so he will be proud of his son.”
