UFC bantamweight Trevin Jones insists he has done nothing wrong but is unwilling get into a long-term battle with the Nevada State Athletic Commission after his debut win was stripped from the record books for a positive marijuana test.

The 30-year-old “5 Star” (12-6, one no contest) of Guam made a splash taking a fight on two days’ notice and finishing Timur Valiev in the second round at UFC Vegas 7 in August, earning himself a US$50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.

But on Wednesday, the NSAC ruled Jones was in violation of its drug policy and issued a four-and-a-half month suspension and a US$1,945.36 fine.

“I took a plea agreement. I was fighting with them,” Jones told SCMP MMA. “I wrote them letters that you guys have the paperwork from Usada, the people that actually tested me. They said how they didn’t punish me. Why aren’t you guys taking the same concept?`

“They also wrote to the UFC, why the UFC didn’t punish me. They are also taking the same concept as Usada. The Nevada Athletic Commission said you missed it on our paper and they said they were going to overturn it, no matter what.
