The PFL has signed featherweight prospect “The Korean Falcon” Jo Sung-bin for its 2021 season, which gets under way next April.

The 28-year-old Jo (9-1) debuted in the UFC in June 2019 at UFC Fight Night 153: Gustafsson vs Smith in Stockholm, Sweden, suffering his first professional loss in a unanimous decision defeat by hometown favourite Daniel Teymur (7-4) of Sweden.

He had previously racked up nine finishes in local Asian promotions, including Kunlun Fight and Top FC – where he was champion – with four submissions and five knockouts, marking him out as one of the top prospects in the region.

“I am the first Korean to sign a contract with the PFL,” Jo said. “I will set a good precedent by succeeding in the PFL, so that other Korean fighters can also dream and aspire to be on this stage and say, ‘I want to be on big events like Jo Sung-bin’.”

Jo trains out of the Team MAD gym in Apgujeong, Seoul, which is led by UFC veteran “Stun Gun” Kim Dong-hyun (22-4).
