Rising Australian light heavyweight star Jimmy “The Brute” Crute (12-1) received some welcome praise from UFC president Dana White after he knocked Modestas Bukauskas (11-3) senseless at 2:01 of the first round on Sunday.

The 24-year-old and his team might be having a party after the long fight back Down Under with Crute picking up a US$50,000 Performance of the Night bonus, along with Brazil’s Jessica Andrade.

“That was a good one, kid,” White told Crute after he had vaulted the Octagon fence to see if he had earned his boss’ approval.

Crute has age – and no small degree of talent – at his disposal and he monstered the Lithuanian from the bell, driving Bukauskas to the cage and looking to end things early.

It was a driving right hand that sent Bukauskas spinning, and another that sent him down. Crute was gracious with an arm around his beaten foe, and he then pointed the way to the future – for both of them.
