UFC: Dana White says it’s ‘disgusting’ but ‘unfortunately true’ Anderson Silva could fight again after Uriah Hall loss
- President confirms he’ll never let 45-year-old former middleweight champ fight again in UFC after fourth-round TKO loss to Uriah Hall
- ‘The Spider’ uncertain on calling it quits for good because ‘this is my air’ but White hopes he retires
Anderson Silva confirmed his fourth-round TKO defeat by Uriah Hall was “my final day” in the UFC but hinted he could continue his legendary MMA career elsewhere – and Dana White isn’t happy about it.
The 45-year-old “Spider” (34-11, one no contest) of Brazil has only officially won one fight since surrendering his middleweight title to Chris Weidman in 2013, with a win over Nick Diaz at UFC 183 overturned after both men failed drug tests.
His defeat by “Primetime” Hall (17-9) in Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 12 main event was his seventh loss in his last nine outings, with UFC president White bringing the curtain down on his career in the promotion despite Silva having another fight left on his contract.
“You know, fighting is fighting, your chance for winning is 50-50. Today, Uriah was the best. He’s come to win the fight, and I’m enjoying my moment,” Silva said in an interview with commentator and former UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping, who beat him in 2016.
“Sometimes it’s very difficult for us to stop, but today is the final day, and I’m so happy to be here and doing my last show for my fans here in the UFC, for the UFC family.”
All three judges awarded Silva the first round over 36-year-old Hall, with one giving him the second round. But the American dropped him in the third and swarmed him with shots, only for the buzzer to save the Brazilian from a likely stoppage.
