After his fight with Khamzat Chimaev was scrapped for a second time, Leon Edwards has no intention of hanging around and waiting.

Welterweight contender Edwards (18-3) wants to keep his Fight Island date in Abu Dhabi – understandable, given he hasn’t fought since July 2019 after a series of cancellations caused by bad luck – and already has a name in mind.

“Rest up Khamzat, I’m sure I’ll see you soon,” the Briton tweeted. “But I want to fight January 20 on the island @danawhite @seanshelby @ufc let’s make it happen.”

“Where that bitch Jorge at?” he added.

Former challenger Jorge Masvidal (35-14) has not responded, though his manager Abe Kawa suggested on Twitter that Edwards should fight Neil Magny (24-8) or Michael Chiesa (17-4), who are set to square off on the same card.
