UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre teased an announcement to his fans on Wednesday – but quickly quashed claims that he was making a comeback. “New year, new team, announcement tomorrow. #zeroregrets,” the 39-year-old Canadian tweeted alongside a photo of himself sparring with long-time trainer Firas Zahabi wearing a mask and boxing gloves. It is not clear if he is leaving Zahabi’s Tristar Gym in Montreal, Quebec. St-Pierre (26-2) has intermittently fuelled rumours he could come out of retirement for the second time to face UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (29-0). The pair are widely considered as candidates in the “GOAT” (greatest of all time) debate, and have both expressed interest in a superfight . Former welterweight and middleweight champion St-Pierre had previously lamented Nurmagomedov’s surprise retirement following another title defence in October. However, it appears “Rush” is in no rush to make that fight happen either. St-Pierre has not fought since beating then-middleweight champion Michael Bisping via third-round rear-naked choke at UFC 217 in 2017. However, he looks in as good a shape as ever, posting workout photos and updates throughout the week. UFC president Dana White revealed this month he would be meeting with Nurmagomedov in January in what are likely to be talks over a potential return to shoot for 30-0.
