UFC: Daniel Cormier admits ‘I don’t know what you do with Leon Edwards now’
- No 3-ranked welterweight’s fight against Khamzat Chimaev scrapped for second time, with UFC now pulling him from January 20 card altogether
- ‘You would hope the guy as a human being can get a match-up,’ says Cormier

Leon Edwards’ absence from the UFC Octagon will stretch past a year and a half after his match-up against Khamzat Chimaev was scrapped for a second time this week.
And now the UFC has pulled “Rocky” (18-3) from its January 20 Fight Island card altogether.
With Michael Chiesa (17-4) and Neil Magny (24-8) now serving as the main event, it looks like the UFC will attempt to reschedule the bout with Chimaev (9-0).
But Edwards could be spinning his wheels a while longer, with the undefeated Chechen-born Swede suffering from Covid-19 complications, according to his manager Ali Abdelaziz – and former UFC double champ Daniel Cormier has no idea what the matchmakers should do with the 29-year-old Briton.
“Lot of guys are matched up, even on that same night you have Chiesa vs Magny, that takes away two opponents he could’ve fought,” Daniel Cormier told SCMP MMA.
