UFC: Alex Volkanovski predicts Henry Cejudo returns in 2021 – ‘he’s chasing that pay cheque’

UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski thinks Henry Cejudo will be back in the Octagon in 2021.
The 33-year-old Cejudo (16-2) last competed at UFC 249 where he dismantled Dominick Cruz to successfully defend the bantamweight title. In the post-fight interview while speaking with Joe Rogan in the centre of the cage, “Triple C” surprisingly announced his retirement from mixed martial arts.
Since then, the former dual division title-holder has kept himself in the headlines with social media call-outs of reigning champions and YouTubers. Volkanovski sees all that as a sign the world will witness Cejudo back in action soon enough.
“Yeah, I do [think Cejudo will return]. The fact that you could see he’s trying to get in there,” Volkanovski told SCMP MMA. “He’s been calling me out and he’s been relentless with it. He’s slowed down a little bit now.
“But I really do think there are fights that will bring him back. Again, it’s gotta be the right fight, the right money. But is the UFC willing to give him that money?
“He’s chasing that pay cheque but is the UFC gonna give him that? If they do, then he’ll be back.”

Cejudo has even starred in a comedic music video titled “Cringe Ass Henry”, which was released last month. Australian champ Volkanovski was the subject of some of the lyrics, and was amused with the antics.
“I think it’s funny, good on him,” Volkanovski said. “He’s doing what he can. He’s staying busy on social media, I tell you that.
“He’s supposedly retired so he’s not busy in the Octagon but he’s busy on Twitter, he’s busy on Instagram. So fair play to him. It was fun. I always wanted to be in a song so I’m happy with that, I’ll take that for now.”
