If UFC 257 was an audition to earn a money-spinning boxing match with Manny Pacquiao, Conor McGregor looks to have failed. Filipino icon Pacquiao has cooled his interest in the fight, according to one of his representatives, following the former two-weight champ’s shock second-round TKO by Dustin Poirier. Sean Gibbons, president of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, indicated McGregor has work to do in the Octagon before he can step in the boxing ring against the former eight-division world champ. “Very unfortunate, it looked like Conor looked past Dustin and got knocked out,” Gibbons told The Sun . “Maybe he had the Senator on his mind. “I think the demand for the fight is not there presently. Conor has some business to clean up and handle in the UFC. It’s a bummer, it could have been fun for as long as it lasted and no leg kicks would have made a world of difference.” The Irishman suffered his fifth loss in the UFC on Sunday in Abu Dhabi, and his third in sixth fights, while he just one win at lightweight to his name. McGregor must forget Pacquiao if he wants MMA glory again “Beautiful thing about the fight game, anything can happen! Congrats to @DustinPoirier. Huge win!” Pacquiao tweeted after the fight. “The Notorious” called for a trilogy bout with Poirier in the summer at his post-event press conference, but left the door open to boxing Pacquiao. “I always did want to focus on my MMA career but I’m also open. I’ll just see what happens. I don’t know what will happen,” McGregor said. “That Manny fight was happening. It was as good as done. I just want to get in and get back into a bounce, especially against that style of fighter, and not take those kicks.”
