Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane’s star continues to rise in MMA with ONE Championship, the Senegalese wrestling sensation getting a quick first-round TKO against Patrick Schmid in Singapore on Thursday morning.
Kane (3-0) opened up the live ONE on TNT 1 card at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, and did not take long to sting “Big Swiss” – a veteran kick-boxer who was making his MMA debut.
Despite his obvious advantage on the ground, the 29-year-old chose to stand and swarmed Schmid with strikes on the feet almost from the start in the Circle.
Kane then took it down to the ground after around a minute, and reined down some ground and pound with referee Mohamad Sulaiman stepping in after just 1:50 of the opening stanza.
“I’m a man of my words,” Kane said in his post-fight interview in the Circle, via a translator. “I did what I say, but thanks to God, only God decides.”
