Robert Whittaker has called for a rematch against UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at a sold-out stadium in Australia following a dominant unanimous decision win over Kelvin Gastelum.

Former champ Whittaker (24-5) took a clean sweep with three 50-45 scorecards from the judges at the Apex facility in Las Vegas on Saturday night, outclassing the former title challenger Gastelum (17-7, one no contest).

That made it three wins on the bounce for the 30-year-old Australian against top-eight contenders since his second round KO defeat by “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya (20-1), where he surrendered the title a UFC 243 inside Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.

“Nothing but respect [for Adesanya], he’s a great fighter,” Whittaker said in his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping. “But I think we should talk, mate.

“I think it’s about time we crossed paths again. We can get a sold-out stadium, they might even open up the borders for Australia in September.

“Let’s make that happen. Let’s see if we can get a stadium back home.”
