ONE Championship: Shinya Aoki swears at Sage Northcutt in mischievous tweet after win over Eduard Folayang
- Japanese legend in playful mood after first-round submission win over Eduard Folayang at ONE on TNT 4
- ‘Well Sage was tweeting that he’s next, so I was like, hey dude, you were sick and you couldn’t fight so you’re not the one who’s supposed to say that,’ Aoki explains

After settling his trilogy with fellow former lightweight champ Eduard Folayang, Shinya Aoki fired a broadside on social media to his original opponent Sage Northcutt.
The 37-year-old Japanese legend (47-9) extended his win streak to four fights since losing the title to Christian Lee in April 2019, a month after he had submitted Filipino “Landslide” Folayang in Tokyo to reclaim the belt.
It was a similar story in Singapore on Thursday morning, Folayang tapping to a first-round arm bar by “Tobikan Judan” on the ONE on TNT 4 lead card.
Aoki then expressed a desire to rebook a date with Northcutt, but also called out Yoshihiro “Sexyama” Akiyama – who was Folayang’s original opponent this month before suffering an injury.
“Don’t worry @a_ok_i it’s on! When I’m well soon, I’m your next opponent! Good job with another submission tonight @ONEChampionship,” Northcutt tweeted.
