UFC: Luana Pinheiro asks ‘did I lose?’ after Randa Markos gets DQ’d for illegal up-kick
- UFC commentator Paul Felder initially questions whether Brazilian is ‘acting’ after eating kick flush to the face while grounded
- ‘I take it back,’ says Felder however as official calls off fight in first round with Pinheiro later taken to hospital
The recent spate of disqualifications in MMA has continued with Luana Pinheiro being awarded victory on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 25 after getting illegally up-kicked by Randa Markos.
The Iraqi-born Canadian “Quiet Storm” (10-11-1) looked distraught when the official called off the fight at 4:16 of the first round, after medical officials quickly deemed Brazilian Pinheiro (9-1) could no longer continue.
Cageside analyst – and No 10-ranked UFC lightweight – Paul Felder initially questioned if the 27-year-old was “acting” after eating the kick clean on her face while she was grounded in their strawweight bout at the Apex facility.
But after a clearly-concussed Pinheiro asked medical officials, “Did I lose?”, Felder said “I take it back”. She was later taken to hospital for medical checks.
The fight had nearly already been called off before that, after 35-year-old Markos had been caught with an eye poke by Pinheiro.
