UFC: Alex Volkanovski says he’s had ‘words’ with Brian Ortega on ‘TUF’ with rivalry ‘heating up a little bit’
- ‘If someone bad mouths me I’m gonna bite back,’ insists UFC featherweight champ during filming of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’
- ‘Going in there was no bad blood. We had nothing but nice things to say about each other but I won’t say that’s how it is right now’
It’s fair to say when the UFC announced Alex Volkanovski and Brian Ortega would be the stars of The Ultimate Fighter’s big return to television screens, many fans were underwhelmed.
Before season 29 of TUF was officially confirmed, there was speculation bitter rivals Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal might be picked as rival coaches because of their history, and the high possibility for drama unfolding.
But UFC featherweight champ Volkanovski has said things are heating up between him and Ortega during filming in Las Vegas, with emotions running high between two of the most respectful fighters on the roster.
“It’s going to be a pretty interesting series,” the 32-year-old Volkanovski told SCMP MMA. “I cannot give too much, but yeah, it’s gonna be good. I can tell you this.
“Obviously going in there was no bad blood. We had nothing but nice things to say about each other but I won’t say that’s how it is right now. There’s definitely been words [that] have been said and it’s heating up a little bit.”
