ONE Championship atomweight grand prix postponed amid Covid-19 surge in Singapore
- Asian martial arts promotion officially confirms all-female ONE: Empower event at Singapore Indoor Stadium has been delayed
- Michelle Nicolini, who was set to fight for strawweight title on same card, earlier revealed May 28 show had been put back to June

May 28’s ONE: Empower card was set to feature the four quarter-finals from the eight-woman tournament, as well as a strawweight title bout between champ Xiong Jingnan and Michelle Nicolini on the Asian martial arts promotion’s first all-female card. The co-main event pitted Anissa Meksen against Martine Michieletto in a ONE Super Series kick-boxing bout.
Brazilian No 2-ranked Nicolini first revealed the delay in an Instagram post on Thursday, saying she had been told the event was being moved.
“I have just been informed that due to the increase in cases of Covid in Singapore (where the event would be) my fight on May 28 in @onechampionship, was postponed, probably to the second week of June,” Nicolini wrote.
ONE later confirmed the news on Friday morning in a post on its official Twitter account, saying: “Due to the current Covid-19 situation, ONE: EMPOWER has been postponed. Thank you for all your support; we hope to reschedule soon!”
