Jairzinho Rozenstruik exploded in the final moments of round one to earn another buzzer-beater TKO against Augusto Sakai in Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 28 main event.

The 33-year-old “Bigi Boy” landed a left hook-right hand combination on the angle as Sakai was trying to peel out from the fence, then finished the job with a couple of hammer fists leaving Herb Dean no choice but to call it off one second before the horn at the Apex facility.

It was an 11th knockout win for the Suriname heavyweight (12-2), and his eighth first-round finish, echoing his famous victory over Alistair Overeem with four seconds remaining in the fifth round of their December 2019 clash.

“Of course, I love them, though,” Rozenstruik told Michael Bisping in his post-fight interview, of the haters who have doubted him following losses to Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane in his last three fights. “We’ve been working hard. This is what we wanted, it played out. We’re gonna go back home and work even harder.”

Rozenstruik had said in the build-up that he felt he owed his fans a “crazy performance” after his hesitant showing in February’s unanimous decision defeat by Frenchman Gane.
